Chivas Regal is known and even respected as the first luxury whisky of its time in many ways. It was launched to America's upper society in New York in 1909 as the first Whisky to be aged at least 25 years. It gave whisky fans a taste of what a genuinely divine blended Scotch is like; no one had done what Chivas Brothers did with their Scotch whiskies before. Chivas Regal 25 vanished in the 1920s during WW1 and prohibition and thus, become a highly sought-after collector's item. Chivas Regal was reintroduced as a 12-year-old whisky in 1950.
